Post Sage post
It's been a fun time this SAGE! I will always bless the SAGE team for making an enjoyable and fun event where developers get to make their own projects and showcase them. I believe this is yet another successful SAGE showing! 20 more downloads than the last time I ended it off too! I wanted to talk a bit more on what was successful and also go into the not so great things.
Firstly, it is amazing to see people enjoy the gameplay. Some streamers found it a bit difficult to get used to it but some themselves admitted it is not the fault of the game. Some sprite assets and abilities were also liked by others which is incredible to hear since I am a bit self conscious about my art. I also believe the assets made by my partner, Kodas, deserves the praise it got because he has done a phenomenal job making sprites and has been very cooperative. Finally, people seem to love the music which is great to hear considering it's one of my favorite parts of my game. MaximusCXI and ToxicVintage knocked it out of the park this time around.
Now onto the not so great things, my favorite part in game design. Totally. A few minor bugs happened: screen shaking constantly after failing a level (which I swore I patched out) and making invincibility not work correctly with spikes. Some players also found turning and Cappi's speed to be unnatural which is very unfortunate to hear. While I may not exactly agree it is unnatural, it is definitely fair to say it takes a bit to get used to which might not be good for some players. I will try my best to continue tweaking it as I continue working. Another issue is cutscene speeds being too fast. I never noticed it being too fast to read outloud and now that I saw it, I will admit it was pretty funny seeing a streamer unable to keep up. But it is noted that when voice acting is in each cutscene, the speed of the cutscene will follow it properly. It'll also make the cutscenes not awkward anymore haha.
That is all for me! I am taking a break to work on more projects now and to fully soak in the feedback to get started on patching.
Until then!
